Dit blijkt uit een marktanalyse van <\/strong><strong>Smart Profile<\/strong><strong>, specialist in data driven marketing, waarbij ruim 6.000 beslissers van Nederlandse organisaties met meer dan vijftig medewerkers zijn ondervraagd. De afname van servervirtualisatie volgt op een dalende lijn in servers op locatie, die al sinds 2011 is ingezet. De afname lijkt dan ook het directe gevolg van de consolidatie- en centralisatieslag die binnen het bedrijfsleven en bij (semi-)overheidsorganisaties aan de gang is.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Over alle sectoren en organisaties heen daalt de toepassing met 2 procent ten opzichte van vorig jaar, naar 78 procent. De reden van de afname in lokale servers is gelegen in de consolidatie en centralisatie die bedrijven en overheidsinstellingen in hun organisatie doorvoeren. Voor servervirtualisatie lijkt dit fenomeen eveneens ten grondslag te liggen aan de daling die ten opzichte van 2016 en\/of 2017 is ingezet.<\/p>\n<p>Desondanks maakt nog ruim driekwart van alle bedrijfsvestigingen met 50 of meer medewerkers gebruik van servervirtualisatie. De meest gebruikte oplossing voor servervirtualisatie is nog altijd VMware (77%). Sterker nog, VMware heeft in vergelijking met vorig jaar zijn aandeel verder uitgebreid (van 75,4% in 2017 naar 77,1% nu). Dit is ten koste gegaan van de nummers twee en drie, te weten Microsoft en Citrix. Ten opzichte van twee jaar geleden is de toepassing van virtuele desktops over alle sectoren en organisaties heen toegenomen van 24 naar 26 procent. In 2014 wat dit nog maar 15 procent. De sector\u00a0<em>construction<\/em>\u00a0is in deze een dissonant; hier liep de penetratiegraad van desktopvirtualisatie terug van 20 procent in 2016 naar 17 procent nu. Ruim 6 op de 10 ge\u00efnventariseerde oplossingen voor desktopvirtualisatie betreft een Citrix-toepassing. Ten opzichte van vorig jaar is het aandeel van Citrix toegenomen van 62 naar 64 procent. Nummer twee VMware ging in dezelfde periode van 30 naar 31 procent.
